Writers, Directors, & Actors Collaborative Workshop

Who is this for? Writers, Actors, & Directors of all levels who are passionate about their craft and can commit to participating in the workshop. Ages 18 & older.

Dates/Times:

  • Submissions due by 9pm on Sunday November 29th 2020
  • Virtual Workshops
    • Sunday December 6th 2020 > 2–4pm (MST) &
    • Sunday December 13th 2020 > 2-4pm (MST)
  • Must be able to attend both workshop dates

What it is?

  • Everyone:
    • Opportunity to create, explore, develop your skills, work with other creatives, and meet other people in the creative community. Hopefully this workshop can nurture these projects to be made in the New Year!
  • Writers:
    • Have your scripts read aloud by Actors, work with a Director & Actors, and have your script explored & workshopped.
    • Develop your script & get it off the ground to be one step closer successfully applying for funding and getting your script being made
  • Actors:
    • Flex your acting skills, work with a Writer & a Director, and be a part of the creative process in exploring a script.
    • Work within the zoom environment, as auditions and rehearsals are now being done in this environment.
    • These skills will help with self-tapes, which is now the standard.
  • Directors:
    • Work with a Writer & Actors, and flex your creative muscles while exploring the script.
    • Work within the zoom environment, as auditions, development, and rehearsals are now being done in this environment.

How To Apply: Email submissions to nicolepworkshop@gmail.com

  • Writers submission:
    1. Your Name
    2. Your email address
    3. Your Script or Scene – no longer than 5 or 6 minutes
      • NOTE – having a smaller number of characters in the script will be more successful in the zoom environment (2-5 characters max)
    4. Logline
    5. Names of characters with description (so I can place the appropriate actors in the roles)
  • Actors submission:
    1. Your Name
    2. Your email address
    3. Headshot
    4. Bio (who you are & acting experience)
    5. We will arrange a time for a quick virtual chat so I can place the actors in the appropriate roles
  • Directors submission:
    1. Your Name
    2. Your email address
    3. Bio (who you are & experience)
    4. We will arrange a time for a quick virtual chat so I can place the Directors with the scripts

Logistics/Commitment:

  • Now until Sunday November 29th 9pm:
    • Writers, Actors, & Directors submit their requested materials.
  • November 30th – December 4th:
    • Directors & Actors arrange a time to meet virtually with Nicole (15 minutes)
  • December 4th & 5th:
    • Actors & Directors are given scripts to read over
  • Sunday December 6th 2–4pm:
    • Actors do a table read of the script in front of the Writers and Directors (virtually). 
  • December 7th – December 12th:
    • Directors virtually work with the Writers and Actors to explore the script and to bring the script to life (about 2-3 hrs, but groups can decide what amount of time they are able to commit).
  • Sunday December 13th 2-4pm:
    • Directors, Writers, & Actors participate in the Final reading of the script.

Who I am:

Nicole Papadopoulos is an award winning performer & creator based out of Edmonton & NYC.  She has worked in a variety of roles and mediums including:

  • Co-Creator, Producer, & Lead Actor, of the NYC Pilot “Wants & Needs” (currently in post production and will soon be pitched to several streaming platforms)
  • Writer, Lead Voice-Over, and Actor in the AT&T Award Winning VR/360 video – Agent X: A 360 Experience
  • Writer, Head of Voice-Over, Voice-Over Director, & Choreographer for the innovative Ballet based videogame iGiselle (Microsoft Kinect)

Who You’ll be Working With:

Nicole Papadopoulos is a multi-award winning performer, including the prestigious VOICE ARTS™AWARDS (VAA) nomination, the voice over industry’s equivalent to the OSCARS, alongside Kate Winslet, Katy Perry, and Lena Dunham (to name a few).

You have probably unknowingly heard much of Nicole’s extensive and genre spanning work including National Commercials (Turnseal) , AAA Video Games (Dragon Age 2), Radio Commercials (Government of Alberta), E-Learning (College of Physicians and Surgeons), and audio books (I Wonder Where The Lions Are?).

Nicole has worked with some of the best names in the business including Pat Fraley, Joan Baker, Shelly Shenoi, and Dorianne Elliot.
